Ballycastle, located in County Antrim on the coast of Northern Ireland, is a small but charming fishing village. It is the most northeastern point of the Irish coastline and is located in the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you happen to be passing through the harbour, keep an eye out for the ferry that goes to Rathlin Island. The last Monday and Tuesday of every August are reserved for the Ould Lammas Fair in Ballycastle. A neighbourhood of Ballycastle called Corrymeela.
Ballycastle has a population of 5,237 as of the 2011 census. It was once the administrative hub and population hub of the defunct Moyle district and the seat of the district council. Irish Baile Ballycastle In the region of Northern Ireland known as the Causeway Coast and Glens, there is a community known as An Chaistil. Rathlin Island is across Ballycastle Bay, and its cave is where legend has it that Scottish King Robert the Bruce hid out. Ballycastle is situated close to the mouth of the Glenshesk and the village of Knocklayd (1,695 feet [517 metres]). The city has many functions, including as a commercial centre, fishing port, and tourist attraction. There is a close proximity between the Franciscan friary at Bunamargy and the castle at Dunaneanie.
Like the rest of Ireland, Ballycastle's marine climate features mild winters and somewhat mild summers. There is a Met Office weather station with current data about over 6 kilometres (4 miles) east-southeast of Ballypatrick Forest.
Governance
As a part of the Glens district, the town is represented by the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council (DEA). In the 2019 Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council elections, this DEA sent two Sinn Fein, one SDLP, one UUP, and one Independent.
