About Hothersall
Description of Hothersall
Hothersall is a community in Lancashire, England's Ribble Valley district. In the 2001 census, the population of the parish was 136, rising to 145 in the 2011 Census, all of whom live in the rural area on the north bank of the River Ribble. Located to the north and west by Longridge and to the east by Ribchester, this area is about 8 miles (13 km) north-east of Preston.
Located in the southern part of the parish, Hothersall Hall belonged to the Hothersall family from the 12th century until the 18th century, when it was sold. The hall was torn down in the 1850s, and a house built in the Gothic style now stands in its place.
From its inception in 1894 until its dissolution in 1974, the parish was a part of Preston Rural District.
The parish was incorporated into Ribble Valley in 1974.
