Bilsborrow, England
Bilsborrow is a small village in the Wyre District of Lancashire, England, near the intersection of the A6 and the Lancaster Canal. In 2011, 632 people called the village home. You may find it east of Myerscough, about a mile and a half away. Prior to its merger with Myerscough in 2003, Bilsborrow existed as its own civil parish. Today, the area is part of the parish of Myerscough and Bilsborrow.
There is a primary school, a post office, a local shop, a fish and chip shop, a canalside tavern called Owd Nell's Tavern, a Premier Inn hotel, a canalside lodge, a guest home, and a themed thatched hamlet 'village' with a restaurant, hotel, and tavern.
John Cross, a local Christian donor, established John Cross Church of England Primary School in 1818. In 2018, the school marked its 300th anniversary.
Duncombe, a hamlet, is located in the former parish. At Matshead, a sizable paper mill operated back in the 1950s. Walmesley Bridge spans the River Brock and was built in 1883, however it appears to be much older.
