About Cantsfield
Description of Cantsfield
Within the boundaries of the City of Lancaster in Lancashire, England, close to the border with North Yorkshire, is the hamlet and civil parish of Cantsfield. It can be found on the A687 near its intersection with the A683, not far from the River Greta. According to the 2001 census, there were 76 people living in the parish. That part of the parish was counted as part of Tunstall in the 2011 census. The entire town has been set aside as a protected ecosystem.
Located between Cantsfield and Tunstall, Thurland Castle was first constructed in the 14th century. After being wrecked during the English Civil War and restored on two separate occasions, the castle was eventually turned into apartments.
