Mellor, a community in the Lancashire, England Borough of Ribble Valley, is named after the Mellor family. There were 2,262 people living in the civil parish as of the 2011 census.

In addition to a primary school, three bars, and a hotel, it also features two churches (a Church of England Parish Church (St. Mary's) and a Methodist church) and a population that is very significant for a community. The area also features a pharmacy, private-hire service, and hair- and beauty-service providers, as well as a post office and general store. There are also the charred ruins of an eel farm that was active in the 1990s and three abandoned quarries.

Historic Stanley House dates back to the 16th century and is recognized by English Heritage. Now it serves as a hotel and spa.

Overlooking the town of Mellor, a Roman signal station and the decommissioned Royal Observer Corps Nuclear Blast and Fallout Monitoring Station once stood atop the moorland's highest hill, Mellor Moor. The observation station, which was opened in July 1959 and closed in October 1968, is located on a low hill west of a trig point with a view of BAE Samlesbury Airfield.

The widespread misconception is that the local inhabitants might have used this as a nuclear shelter or air raid shelter during times of conflict. On top of the pillar, a millennium viewpoint has been built. The community center of Mellor is the village hall. Many sports and games are played there, including football, tennis, bowls, and hockey.

Mellor is connected to the nearby community of Mellor Brook, where you'll find a number of amenities such a bakery, post office, general shop, art gallery, and public bar known as the Feildens Arms. The Mellor Brook Community Centre was a church before it was converted into a primary school and eventually closed in 1962.
