The weather service has issued warnings this week for gusty winds and heavy rain expected today (March 28) and Friday. Although Lancashire is not covered by the warnings, wind and rain have been forecast in the region. In Blackburn, wind gusts of 30mph have been forecast for today.

The weekend forecast for Blackburn and surrounding areas includes a mixture of cloud, sunny intervals, and rain. Similar conditions are expected in Burnley, Darwen, Pendle, Hyndburn, Ribble Valley, and Rossendale.

Met Office chief meteorologist Neil Armstrong highlighted the impact of a deep area of low pressure, leading to increasing wind speeds along the south coast of England on Thursday. Gusts of 50mph are likely, with 60-70mph possible in exposed coastal areas. Showers, potentially accompanied by hail and thunder, may worsen travel conditions.

On Good Friday, rain is forecast across the UK, continuing the unsettled weather pattern. Saturday will see showers in southern and western areas, with a chance of brighter spells further north and east. Easter Sunday offers a brief respite, with showers becoming less frequent and longer spells of sunshine expected, especially in eastern and northern areas. Saturday may see showers after sunny spells, with wind gusts of 24mph. Sunday is expected to be cloudy with wind gusts of 24mph, while Monday will be overcast with wind gusts of 21mph. Temperature highs range from 11°C to 13°C, with lows of 4°C to 5°C throughout the weekend.
