Types of Heavy Duty Racking Systems Available in Dubai

Author:

Not all warehouses store the same type of goods, and not all businesses operate in the same way. That’s why heavy duty racking systems come in different designs — each one suited for specific storage needs.

In Dubai, where industries range from construction to e-commerce, choosing the right type of racking can make a huge difference in efficiency, safety, and cost.

Selective Pallet Racking

The most widely used heavy duty racking. It gives direct access to every pallet without moving others. Forklifts can approach pallets directly from the aisle, and beams can be adjusted to fit different pallet heights. Best for warehouses with many different product types, it is flexible, easy to install, and works with most forklifts.

Drive-In and Drive-Through Racking

High-density racking where forklifts drive into lanes to load or unload pallets. Drive-In has one entry and exit point per lane (LIFO), while Drive-Through has entry on both ends (FIFO). This system is great for bulk storage of similar products and cold storage warehouses where space is expensive.

Push-Back Racking

A system where pallets are placed on rolling carts that slide back when a new pallet is loaded. When a pallet is removed, the next one slides forward automatically. This works well for medium turnover products and reduces aisle space while keeping good selectivity.

Cantilever Racking

Designed to store long and bulky items such as steel bars, pipes, timber, and furniture. Uses arms extending from vertical columns to hold products. It is easy to load and unload using forklifts or cranes.

Double-Deep Racking

Stores pallets two deep on each side of the aisle, requiring forklifts with extended reach. Ideal for fewer product types but large quantities, it increases storage capacity by up to 30% and reduces the number of aisles.

Choosing the right type depends on the type of goods stored, turnover rate, warehouse layout, and budget. Heavy duty racking in Dubai suppliers offer many racking options, so selecting the right one can improve storage efficiency and protect goods.
