Gareth Walton, a 44-year-old man with no fixed address in Blackpool, was found guilty of 19 sexual offenses by a jury at Preston Crown Court in July. The investigation was launched by Lancashire Police in January after the offenses were reported. Walton was sentenced to 28 years in prison on Friday, September 20.

The victims, who cannot be named for legal reasons, showed great courage and bravery in reporting the offenses and giving evidence at the trial. Detective Sergeant Cherie Hall of Blackpool Police praised the victims for their bravery, saying, “Both of them showed great courage and bravery to report these offenses and then to give evidence at the trial. It’s a testament to their strength and resilience that they were able to overcome their trauma and bring Walton to justice.”
